To create a new Theme, head to the Themes panel and click on the + New Theme button in the top-left-hand corner of the page.

You will now have two options for creating your new Theme: clone an existing Theme or start with a blank Theme.

Cloning an existing Theme

This option is ideal if you would like to adopt a new Theme that only differs slightly from one that you are currently using. You will be able to select any of your existing Themes to copy and, once you do this, a new Theme will be created with exactly the same settings as the original one.

At this point, you will be able to enable certain features that were disabled on your original Theme, and vice-versa. For example, if you have the Embed button enabled on your original Theme, you can opt for the Custom button for the one you have just created.

Any SmartFrames that have been embedded with the original Theme will be unaffected by any of the changes you make.

Start with a blank Theme

This option is ideal if you would like to build your own Theme with a number of customizations. Your new Theme will be created with all optional features deactivated.

Here’s an example of a SmartFrame that uses a blank Theme:

The post How to create a new Theme appeared first on SmartFrame.

What is metadata?

Metadata is information about your images.

Metadata consists of a number of meta tags, such as Copyright and Caption. Each meta tag includes a key, such as Caption, and a value, such as Mountain landscape.

Multiple images can use the same meta tags, but their values will likely vary.

<smartframe-embed customer-id="7d0b78d6f830c45ae5fcb6734143ff0d" image-id="HMNCHR4GTTYU" theme="blank-help-center" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; aspect-ratio: 4400/2800; max-width: 4400px;"></smartframe-embed>

Default and custom metadata

When an image is uploaded to SmartFrame, selected IPTC metadata is imported along with the image file. This is used to create the default Caption and Copyright tags.

This default metadata, along with the Image ID, is automatically available for every image uploaded to the Images panel (although in some cases they may be empty). You can edit them at any time without affecting the original IPTC metadata in the source file.

You can add custom meta tags to your images to better organize your image collection. Depending on your needs, custom meta tags could be anything, such as Brand, Product, Country, or Model.

Metadata is used across the Admin Panel for a number of purposes, such as:

creating unique captions in Themes by inserting a meta tag such as {{ caption }} into the Caption box – this will then be replaced by the value of that meta tag in the SmartFrame itself

filtering data in Insights

adjusting the text that accompanies image thumbnails when shared on social media

Editing and adding metadata

You can edit existing metadata and add new meta tags in the Images panel.

Once you’ve selected one or more images for which you would like to apply these changes, select Edit Metadata. Now simply edit the value of the existing meta tags or click on the + Metadata button to add a new meta tag.

After clicking on the button, you will be required to add both the key and the value of the new meta tag. Once you click on Save Changes, the new meta tag will be available for all images.

You can also edit metadata for an individual image. Simply click on an image in the Images panel and select the Image details option from the left-hand-side menu.

The post Image metadata appeared first on SmartFrame.
