Search

You can search your images using metadata. In the Images panel, start typing the metadata in the search field above your images; the results will be instantly filtered to show only those that contain the typed keywords or phrases in any of their meta tags.

If you need more specific search options, select Advanced search from the menu below the search field. This will open a dialog box that contains multiple metadata filters.

You can add as many filters as you need. Once you click Apply you’ll see only the images that match your criteria.

Filters

You can filter your images by their upload date by clicking on the Show filters button next to the search field and selecting the appropriate filters.

The post Searching and filtering your images appeared first on SmartFrame.

To delete a single image from your SmartFrame account, locate the image in the Images panel and click on the three dots in the bottom-right-hand corner – or on the right-hand side if viewing images in List View – before selecting Delete.

To delete several images at once, select the images you want to delete by clicking on the checkbox in the top-left-hand corner of each image – or on the left-hand side if viewing images in List View – before clicking on the Delete button at the top of the page. If, however, you wish to delete all your images, click on the Select all button at the top of the page before selecting Delete.

If deleted images were embedded as SmartFrame images, they will no longer be visible wherever they were embedded. Instead, any embedded SmartFrame images will be replaced by this image:

What is metadata?

Metadata is information about your images.

Metadata consists of a number of meta tags, such as Copyright and Caption. Each meta tag includes a key, such as Caption, and a value, such as Mountain landscape.

Multiple images can use the same meta tags, but their values will likely vary.

<smartframe-embed customer-id="7d0b78d6f830c45ae5fcb6734143ff0d" image-id="HMNCHR4GTTYU" theme="blank-help-center" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; aspect-ratio: 4400/2800; max-width: 4400px;"></smartframe-embed>

Default and custom metadata

When an image is uploaded to SmartFrame, selected IPTC metadata is imported along with the image file. This is used to create the default Caption and Copyright tags.

This default metadata, along with the Image ID, is automatically available for every image uploaded to the Images panel (although in some cases they may be empty). You can edit them at any time without affecting the original IPTC metadata in the source file.

You can add custom meta tags to your images to better organize your image collection. Depending on your needs, custom meta tags could be anything, such as Brand, Product, Country, or Model.

Metadata is used across the Admin Panel for a number of purposes, such as:

creating unique captions in Themes by inserting a meta tag such as {{ caption }} into the Caption box – this will then be replaced by the value of that meta tag in the SmartFrame itself

filtering data in Insights

adjusting the text that accompanies image thumbnails when shared on social media

Editing and adding metadata

You can edit existing metadata and add new meta tags in the Images panel.

Once you’ve selected one or more images for which you would like to apply these changes, select Edit Metadata. Now simply edit the value of the existing meta tags or click on the + Metadata button to add a new meta tag.

After clicking on the button, you will be required to add both the key and the value of the new meta tag. Once you click on Save Changes, the new meta tag will be available for all images.

You can also edit metadata for an individual image. Simply click on an image in the Images panel and select the Image details option from the left-hand-side menu.

The post Image metadata appeared first on SmartFrame.

To upload an image, simply click the Upload button in the Images panel and follow the instructions.

If you have a large collection of images to upload, you may want to use the SmartFrame REST API.

Your original images are safely stored in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud and can be accessed at any time.

Once you upload an image to your Images panel, we automatically generate the encrypted SmartFrame datafile with the .sfi extension. These files are unreadable to normal image-viewing and -editing software, and can only be decoded with the decryption key contained in your SmartFrame Viewer script.

Uploading images with the SmartFrame API

You can also use the REST API for bulk uploads or request custom connectors to be built for them.

Contact us to discuss bespoke solutions or visit the Business integration section to learn more about the SmartFrame API.

Supported image formats

You can upload image files in JPEG, TIFF, HEIC, PNG or WebP formats to SmartFrame. Please note that alpha channels in PNG files are not currently supported.

Maximum file size

The maximum file size of a single image that can be uploaded to SmartFrame is 50MB.

Minimum image resolution

SmartFrame will never upscale your images, so you should make sure that the original images you upload have a resolution sufficient for modern displays (at least 2000px wide for photos). The size of the original image will not affect the page-loading speed, but if the image is too low in resolution its quality may suffer on large displays, and may also limit the performance of the Hyper Zoom feature/

File name restrictions

Please make sure your file names do not contain any commas (,) as these may affect the structure of embed codes when creating Galleries.

External image sources

It’s possible to upload images to SmartFrame via external platforms or extensions.

If you upload images from more than one source inside your Admin Panel – such as SmartFrame API and an extension – the upload source will be displayed next to the image. You can turn off this function by deselecting the Display Source option in the Images panel.

Depending on how they were uploaded, some of these images may have different permissions. Some functionalities such as deleting images or editing metadata may not be available for these images too.

The post Uploading images appeared first on SmartFrame.

SmartFrame lets you share your images safely via social media, email, or a direct link, without ever giving away the original source file.

This protects your rights, even when images are shared on social media, and ensures viewers can only see your image in its secure SmartFrame format.

What happens when I share my image using SmartFrame?

When you share an image through SmartFrame, you’re actually sharing a link to a SmartFrame Image Page, a unique page where your image is displayed within SmartFrame, plus a small JPEG thumbnail. You can adjust the size of this thumbnail in the Control section of the Admin Panel.

This means that the original source file is not shared with anyone.

You can also track views, clicks, and interactions on the Image Page, just as you would for SmartFrame images on your website or other platforms.

Sharing images from the Admin Panel

Email – Send directly from the SmartFrame Admin Panel

Other ways to share a SmartFrame image

If you switch on the Share button in Themes, anyone will be able to use it and share your SmartFrame images from where they are published (including the SmartFrame Image Page).

By default, they will then be sharing a link to the page where your SmartFrame image is published, but you can adjust these settings at any time in the Control section.

The post Sharing SmartFrame images appeared first on SmartFrame.
